Taipei, Taiwan, March 29, 2017 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. today announced the new business-class TS-x31XU series rackmount NAS; available in 4, 8 and 12-bay models with single and redundant power supply options. Powered by an AnnapurnaLabs, an Amazon company Alpine AL-314 quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM® Cortex-A15 CPU, the TS-x31XU features 2GB or 4GB DDR3 RAM (expandable to 16GB), includes two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports, and supports the innovative VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) and Container Station, providing a high-performance, multifunctional and power-efficient storage solution.

Coupled with a hardware encryption engine and SSD cache support, the quad-core TS-x31XU series offers two 10GbE SFP+ ports that ensure top notch networking capabilities of up to 1,242 MB/s transfer speeds. An additional single-port 10GbE PCIe card can be installed for more flexible deployment. The TS-x31XU is ideal for small-and-medium businesses looking for backup, restoration, virtualization storage, private cloud, and to future-proof their IT infrastructure for 10GbE networks.

“The 10GbE-ready TS-x31XU is a cost-effective NAS solution that helps remove inefficiencies from IT infrastructure while increasing flexibility,” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP. “The two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports realize great network potential for bandwidth-intensive applications such as virtualization, high-speed file transfer, video storage and streaming, IP surveillance, and more.”

QNAP’s innovative VJBOD helps maximize storage utilization. Besides using physical storage expansion enclosures, the high-capacity TS-x31XU can be used to economically expand other QNAP NAS storage with VJBOD, and to create virtual storage pools and volumes on virtual disks for operating NAS services. VJBOD introduces an economical way to utilize unused NAS storage, and provides users with an additional flexible storage expansion solution.

QNAP is keen to embrace the opportunities of IoT (Internet of Things), and its Container Station provides developers with an advantage in developing and deploying IoT applications. Container Station exclusively integrates LXC and Docker® lightweight virtualization technologies, and features the QIoT Containers platform that, coupled with the TS-x31XU’s high storage capacity, provides an ideal private IoT cloud platform with countless hands-on containerized apps for developers to initialize microservices.

The TS-x31XU series is a comprehensive storage solution for data storage, backup, sharing and centralized management. It supports cross-platform file sharing over Windows®, Mac® and Linux®/UNIX®, Windows and Mac desktop/laptop backup, RTRR (Real-Time Remote Replication) with backup versioning, rsync and backup to cloud storage (Amazon® Glacier, Azure™ Storage, Google Cloud Storage™, Google Drive™, Microsoft® OneDrive®, Dropbox®, Amazon® Drive, Yandex® Disk, Box®, and more). The TS-x31XU can be used as a VPN server or VPN Client to secure network access. The powerful Qsirch full-text search tool helps quickly find files on the NAS, and Qsync provides multiple ways for file synchronization and group file sharing to greatly enhance collaboration of team projects. QmailAgent allows for centralizing multiple email accounts and simplifying daily email management; and Surveillance Station introduces a professional IP-based surveillance solution.

The TS-x31XU’s storage capacity can be increased by connecting up to two QNAP expansion enclosures (the 12-bay UX-1200U-RP and 8-bay UX-800U-RP), providing a total storage capacity of up to 36 drives. With the support of QJBOD Express (JBOD enclosures roaming), users can connect a large capacity QNAP expansion enclosure to the TS-x31XU, and migrate data to another NAS through the JBOD enclosure without needing a network connection.
